Govt. spreading anti Islamic info. – Adhaalath

Report: Jaxlee

President of Adhaalath Party Sheikh Hussain Rasheed has accused the government of spreading anti Islamic and anti constitutional information using state controlled TVM. He made the statement to Miadhu commenting on the opinions expressed by some religious scholars on TVM stating that music is within the boundaries of Islam.
Sheikh Hussain Rasheed said that he strongly condemn that government using state media unfairly. He also said that this not practiced by any other government in the world. Through TVM, some religious scholars recently have been repeatedly saying that music is allowed in Islam.

The article written by Sheikh Mohamed Rasheed Ibrahim, the President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in yesterday’s edition of Dheenuge Magu was read on TVM as a news item. He had written that music is allowed and is within the boundaries in Islam. Some people had shown their anger toward this as this edition of Dheenuge Magu contained valuable information that would benefit the society in religious and social wise but TVM never mentioned this in their news.

In Dheenuge Magu, Shiekh Mohamed Rasheed has said that expressing joy, singing, beating drums, using tambourines and playing music on Eid days, wedding receptions and circumcision ceremonies are allowed within the boundaries of Islam.

“Mentioning the boundary, religious scholars have said that it has to be done in such a way that it does not put an obstacle in performing religious obligations, not in a way that it put obstacle in the work to do to feed your family, and in a way that bad actions are not included in a ceremony and that no bad words are not included in a song”

Sheikh Hussain Rasheed has said that there is no controversy among the scholars that singing without music and without bad words and love is allowed in Islam. But he said that the majority of eminent religious scholars agree that singing with all modern music instruments excluding tambourine are not allowed.

The most popular ex- singer Ali Rameez that it was really unfair that the state TV only gives opportunity for those who talk pro- music to express their views while whose who are against it with strong evidence are not given an opportunity to express their view. He said that it was not democracy to give opportunity for only one side to express their views. He said that it is not right to claim that we have a democracy here.

“Those who are wise must know that there is some controversy and that they repeatedly insist this is lawful. If it is lawful, then let it be. I don’t see any reason why they should repeatedly say that music is lawful, music is lawful. Is this the biggest problem our nation is facing? A generation is being destroyed in drugs, adultery and alcohol. Still, are we paying most importance to make music lawful?” Ali Rameez said.

Althought Sheikh Muhammad Rasheed Ibrahim now says that music is lawful within the limits of islam, he has earlier stated that Music is unlawful.

Sheikh Hussain Rasheed accuses that anti- Islamic people and extremists are products as a result of the government not spreading right information about the religion.

“The President has to take the responsibility for this. The reason is that the constitution says that the President is the head in expressing religious views. He is the one who holds on to something and who hides the other thing” Sheikh Hussain Rasheed said.
