Maldives supports human rights protection in Palestine

Abdul Gafoor Mohamed, Permanent Representative to UN Headquarters in Geneva, has said that Maldives would render all necessary assistance and support for the protection of human rights in Palestine. He made the statement speaking at a special meeting held by the UN Human Rights Council.

Gafoor said that it was in the interest of Maldives to see the peoples of Palestine get access to a peaceful, harmonious and free environment to live. He said the dreams of the Palestine people to establish an independent state in Palestine can only become a reality with the full support of the international community.

He called on for immediate end to the tortures and cruel and degrading acts that are being inflicted on the people of Palestine and urged all necessary parties to abide by the international conventions that protect human rights.

The resolution passed at the meting called on the international community to work to bring an end to the inhuman acts being committed against the people of Palestine.
