Official Celebrations to mark poet’s day held

The official celebrations to mark the poet’s day were held in Fuvahmulak. The Guest of Honor at the ceremony organized by the National Center for Linguistic and Historical Research was Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation Dr. Mahmoud Shaugy.

Minister of Tourism speaking at the ceremony said that in every language importance is given to the grammar and called on for the development of the Fuvahmulak dialect.

At the ceremony Dr. Mahmoud Shaugy inaugurated an issue of the magazine “Aakuri” published by National Center for Linguistic and Historical Research. Further a memorial plaque was awarded to Gnaviani Atoll by the Center. The plaque was handed over to Senior Island Chief of the Fuvahmulk Mohamed Waheed by the President of the Center Abbas Ibrahim.

At the ceremony President of the National Center for Linguistics and Historical Research Center Abbas Ibrahim and Gnaviani Atoll Chief Ahmed Moosa addressed the gathering.

The ceremony was attended by Director General of the National Center for Linguistic and Historical Research Yumna Maumoon , Special Advisor at the Center Abdulla Sadiq, senior officials of the center, well known poets, dignitaries from Addu Atoll, officials from various schools and students.
