Fisheries Hussain Hilmy has stated that although he is serving the country in a politician he does not care much for his position as Fisheries Minister. He said he gives more priority to serve the people of the country.
Speaking to Miadhu, Minister Hilmy said that he does not care much for his position but he gives priority to serve the people in what ever way he can. He also said one of the important projects undertaken by Ministry was the development of a Fishermen’s Center in Addu Atoll.
“I am not a person who care much about the position, the only thing I care about is serving the people, currently I am working on finding ways to develop the Fishermen’s Center to be established in Addu Atoll, if the project materializes, it will open the way for a lot of jobs” said Hilmy.
With the resignation of Former Foreign Minister Dr. Ahmed Shaheed and Former Attorney General Dr Hassan Saeed along with Former Justice Minister Mohamed Jameel in August 2007, newspapers carried speculations on the resignation of Fisheries Minister Hilmy. However, he is still remains in the cabinet.
Stories regarding his resignation also floated around Male’ yesterday, although this was later denied by Hilmy himself.
