Adhaalath supports interim government

Adhaalath Party has expressed its support for an interim government. Adhaalath Party expressed its support after a meeting of the party’s governing council held to discuss the formation of interim government where all parties are included, once the Majlis completes the amendment of the constitution.

Adhaalath Party revealed that the main objective of the interim government should be to hold free, fair, independent and all inclusive election. The party also revealed that a chapter detailing the transitional process should be included in the constitution. According to Adhaalath during the transition process, the interim Majlis as well as the interim government should include members of all political parties.

Providing further information, Adhaalath said before free and independent elections can be held, the election commission and civil service commission should be made independent. Also the independence of judiciary and media must be assured as well as the anti corruption board and police integrity commission should be made independent.

Adhaalath Party also revealed that the guidelines proposed by MDP for the transition to new constitution needs to be revised. Adhaalath also revealed MDP proposed guidelines paves the way for a specific group to monopolize the powers of the government. They also reveal that the term of the interim government is too long and that the guidelines do not facilitate power sharing by all parties.
