Maldives nominated in 5 categories in WTA

Maldives has been nominated in 5 categories at the 14 Annual World Travel Awards (WTA). The World Travel Award is scheduled to commence on the 12 of this month at Turks and Caicos Islands.

The 5 categories in which the nominations are, Maldives Leading Destination, Maldives Leading Dive Destination, Maldives Leading Honey Moon Destination, Maldives Leading Romantic Destination and Maldives Leading Television Commercial. Further Maldives Tourism Promotion Board (MTPB) has been nominated as Maldives Leading Tourist and Convention Bureau.

Many of the leading parties involved in Maldivian tourism industry were also nominated in some important categories. Inner Maldives was nominated as Maldives Leading Travel Agency, Baros Maldives was nominated as Maldives Leading Villa and Beach Resort, Hilton Resort was nominated as Maldives Leading Resort and Huvafenfushi as Maldives Leading Spa Resort.

World Travel Awards is famously known as the Oscars of the tourist industry and Awards are considered as one of the most prestigious awards given in the tourism sector. The awards were introduced in 1993 for the exemplary success in the tourism industry. More than 167000 travel agencies from 160 different countries vote to select the winners of the awards.

The awarding ceremony of the world travel awards will be held on the 12 of this month at Turks and Caicos Islands. Nominations in international categories were based on winners of 4 regional ceremonies. The regional categories were held at Abu Dhabi, New York, New Castle and Bangalore. Maldives participated in Bangalore ceremony and was a huge success.

At Bangalore MTPB was chosen as the best Tourist and Visitor Bureau. Further Maldives was chosen as the most memorable destination and the best diving destination.
