Government has postponed the official marking of the Fisherman’s Day to January of 2008.
The official celebrations to mark the day will be held in Dhaalu Atoll Kudahuvadhoo. Final preparations are underway in Kudahuvadhoo to mark the day.
The official ceremony was postponed due to severe weather conditions prevalent over the country as it raises issues of transportation and other hardships. Further the delay was also to provide opportunity to invite officials of the government and leading businessmen to the celebrations.
According to Ministry of Fisheries, Agriculture and Marine Resources the exact date when the celebrations would be held has not been finalized.
