
At the meeting held at the Temple Trees, official residence of the Lankan President, discussions were held on ways on improving and strengthening the existing bilateral relations.
Minister Shahid in his talks highlighted the need to improve the existing regulations to facilitate easy access of visas to Maldivians living in Sri Lanka. Minister also thanked Sri Lankan President for the continued support made to the development of the country. In this regard Minister Shahid highlighted the recently opened Central Library under Sri Lankan assistance.
Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa thanked Maldivian Foreign Minister for his support in the decision to allow Sri Lanka to host the 15 SAARC Sumit in Sri Lanka and offered his congratulations to Minister Shahid for agreeing to host 16 SAARC Sumit.
Discussions were also held on the government’s reform agenda. Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa expressed his satisfaction and praised the speed and the status of the agenda.
