Mohamed Nasheed (Colonel) has claimed that top government officials and kings have become equal due to Arumaz. Colonel made the statement speaking on behalf of Social Liberal Party at the rally of Uthuru Arumaz organized by National Unity Alliance in Dhihdhoo of Haa Alif Atoll.

He further said although there are many flags with different colors representing the Alliance, the aim and objective of the Alliance would not change. He also said if this expedition is declared against the regulations, then the first person who would be prosecuted would be Education Minister Zahiya Zahreer as she has given the Dhihdhoo School to host the function. Colonel also claimed that the rally was perfectly legal and was well within the constitutional boundaries.

Speaking at rally last night, Chief Spokesperson of Adhaalath Party, Asadhulla Shaafiee said if President Gayoom can be regarded as the father of modern Maldives, then in the same token President should assume the responsibility for all the shortcomings of the country.

Former Foreign Minister Dr. Shaheed speaking at the rally claimed that he joined and resigned from the government for only one reason and that was to bring democracy to the country.

Dr. Shaheed said “the only way this government will win the elections will be by changing the ballot box”. He also claimed that the present government was an incapable government.
