Maldivian Ambassador to Sri Lanka Ali Hussain Did has presented his credentials to the President of Sri Lanka Mahindha Rajpaksa yesterday.
After the credentials were handed over the two diplomats discussed ways of strengthening the existing close friendly relations between the two countries.
Ali Hussain Didi conveyed the best wishes of the President Gayoom to the Sri Lankan President and thanked Sri Lankan government for the continued support and assistance it has rendered Maldives. Ali Hussan Did said that he would try his best to improve the existing bilateral ties between the countries during his term as Ambassador.
Sri Lankan President Rajpaksa during the ceremony said Sri Lanka and Maldives enjoyed close friendly relations and praised the ongoing reform initiative of President Gayoom. Sri Lankan President further wished the reform initiative success.
The ceremony held at the Presidential House yesterday at 1000am was attended by Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama Personel Secretary to the Sri Lankan President Lalith Wirathunga , Additional Secretary to the President as well as Chief of Staff, Chief of Protocol MM Jafir and Maldivian Deputy High Commissioner Ahmed Sareer.
