Report: Soodh
Since there had been no solution to the problem after a day has passed since the islanders of Noonu atoll Miladhoo took control of the island administration, about 25 people who belong to Miladhoo went to meet Atolls Minister Thasmeen Ali today, but they were sent home by Police, reports said.
When Velidhoo News contacted Police on the matter, a media official from the Police said that they got a report from Atolls Ministry that there are these people refusing to leave the office building even when a date and time had been set for them to meet the atolls minister and that they wanted to meet the minister right today. He said that a team from Maldives Police service were sent there and those people left the place after Police advised them.
One of the people who went to meet the atolls minister said that they were told that they could not meet Minister Thasmeen until another 2 or3 days. But because of the situation of the island and the type of case, they wanted to meet him as soon as possible and refused to leave the office building even when they were told to do so. He said that they all left the place when the Police came and advised them.
“Atolls Ministry said that we could not meet him until another 2 to 3 days. But because of the situation, we wanted to meet sooner. They told us to leave the office building. But we refused and stayed there until Police came and advised us. There were no clashes between Police and us” he said.
An informant from Miladhoo told to Velidhoo Community last night that they are surrounding the island office and all the people of the island are on the same spirit. He also said that the people of the island who belong to MDP and DRP are also very friendly in this case.
The islanders of Noonu Miladhoo surrounded and locked the island office and court last Sunday morning at 7:30. The reason behind this was, according to the islanders are that they have not been getting some essential services such as fresh water, sewage system, electricity problems and harbor.
