Price of cooking gas goes up

The price of cooking gas has risen 37 % and price of a gas cylinder of 10 kg is now available at Rf.185.

The prices of cooking gas were raised almost simultaneously by the two companies engaged in selling cooking gas in the country. The 2 companies STO and Villa Gas now sell cooking gas with an increment of Rf 5 per kilo and a 10 kg gas cylinder for Rf 185.00

The increase in price after 2 years is due to global rise in price of liquefied petroleum gas. STO reveals that even though the company raised the price, it has only added a small profit margin.

During last year global fuel prices increased considerably. They also say the cost of the next of the next shipment will be considerably high and that company has made no decision to revise the prices as yet.

Prices of cooking gas were last revised in late 2005.
