Report: Soodh
Former pop artist Ali Rameez has said that he would continue to play music even if a narrow leeway is given in Islam.
Ali Rameez made the statement answering a question from Miadhu regarding comments made by Dr. Afrashim, a PHD scholar on Islamic Sharia from Islamic University of Malaysia, on One to One Program of Dhi FM.
Speaking on One to One program Dr. Afrashim said the art of singing is a talent bestowed on Ali Rameez from the Almighty Allah and that he should make the best use of it to advance the cause of Allah. Dr, Afrashim further called upon the former pop artist to resume singing to further the cause of Allah.
Ali Rameez responding to Dr. Afrashim’s call said the Dr. Afrashim’s comments were not inline with a Muslim who believes in Almighty Allah, Prophet Muhammad and the Judgment day. Ali further said the only thing we should consider is the Prophetic nature of Prophet Muhammad’s Hadhith.
“The meaning of one hadhith says that there will be a group of people among my Ummah, who will say fornication, silk and alcohol and music is permitted, meaning these people will make music permissible, look how true the hadhith is, this particular hadhith is transmitted by Imaam Bukhari, you can clearly see how it fits our present society” said Ali Rameez.
Ali Rameez further said that just as Satan was present in every generation, there are satans among us today that permits what Allah has forbidden and forbids what Allah has allowed.
“There are many among us who are not satisfied with Allah’s sariah, they without any fear of Allah claim that it does not fit modern times, the point is it is not surprising that these people permit alcohol, fornication and music, it is not surprising at all, my prayer is may Almighty Allah protect all Muslims of this country and myself from such satans” said Ali.
Former pop artist Ali Rameez called upon all Muslims in Maldives to fear Allah.
“Allah did not send us to party all night, the purpose of us being here is to offer prayer to Allah, He has revealed this in His book, I call upon all Maldivian to obey Almighty Allah and his Prophet and to keep way from such evil men.” said Ali Rameez.
Miadhu asked if Ali would like to give a direct message to Dr. Afrashim, he replied that Dr. Afrashim was the first scholar that he has come across, bent on permitting music.
“I call on Dr. Afrashim to fear Almighty Allah, and to seek Allah’s mercy for crimes he may have committed and to die like a true Muslim, I also call on him be reminded that those who gives support will not be with him on Judgment Day and on that day he will be all alone without any protection from his friends” said Ali to Dr. Afrashim.
