Application for loans under FDP opens

Ministry of Fisheries has revealed that opportunity to apply for loans under the second phase of the Fisheries Development Project (FDP) has been opened on 13 January 2008.

He loans granted under the scheme will be light loans and is aimed at fisherman and those engaged in fisher activities that own small or medium sized business as well as to those who are starting a business in the fishing industry inform Fisheries Ministry.

Ministry also informs that deadline for the application for loans under the scheme is 15 April 2008.Ministry also say that applicants will be appropriate responses on the 30 of each month after an evaluation of the applications made within the month. In this regard the Ministry says that responses to applications submitted during the month of April would be given after the expiry of the deadline.

A total of Rf.5, 834,590.00 to 126 parties awarded under the 2 phase of the Fisheries Development of the Project informs the Ministry. Application for loans under the previous phase of the Project closed on the 30 of December 2007 and funds to 47 parties who applied for loans has been authorized by the Loan Sanction Committee on the 5 of January 2008.

The third phase of the Fisheries Development Project opened on the 7 of November of 2007 is aimed at providing light loans to complete fishing vessels under construction and to procure facilities and equipments required for such vessels. Application for loans under the third phase expires on 8 of May 2008 say Fisheries Ministry.
