
Ahmed Yoosuf said that the loss incurred had now been informed to the government and earlier also, government had paid back to the people. He said that there is no sign of rain now in the island.
“There is no sign of rain now. It’s sunny” island chief said.
Ahmed Yoosf said that Fonadhoo experienced heavy rains at 2:38 pm last Wednesday, but it not cause flooding. He said that although the island was not flooded, the cable system in the island, TVs in some houses, phone lines and the computers being used at that time was totally damaged due to thunder. Because of this, island office and bank was not able to give service last Thursday, but now all services are available, island chief said.
Last Friday night’s heavy rains in Fonadhoo caused flooding to 2.5 to 3 foots and 150 houses were flooded.
