President inaugurates Kudahuvadhoo Preschool

President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom yesterday morning declared open the new Kudahuvadhoo Preschool.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, President Gayoom said that the preschool was a vivid example of the prevalent strong ties of fraternity and community spirit among the people of Kudahuvadhoo. “The new preschool is a clear indication of the high importance that the people of Kudahuvadhoo attaches to the development of education”, the President noted in his speech. He also thanked everyone who contributed towards the construction of the new preschool on the island.

Speaking at the function, the Senior Island Chief of Kudahuvadhoo , Ismail Saeed attributed the idea to build a new preschool to the people. He also briefed the audience on various phases of its construction and paid tribute to those who had assisted in making the project a success.

After the inauguration ceremony, President toured the new preschool and met with the students.

After opening the Kudahuvadhoo Preschool, President visited the areas housing families who immigrated to the island after the tsunami.

This morning, President Gayoom also toured the Fishermen’s Day Trade Fair at the harbor area of Kudahuvadhoo. While at the fair ground, the President met with a number of fishermen, fisheries entrepreneurs and senior officials of the fisheries sector.

President Gayoom then watched the new fishing vessels which are being designed and constructed exclusively for fishermen whose livelihoods were affected by the tsunami.
