National Center for the Arts (NCA) has said that renovation works at Olympus would be completed within four months.
According to NCA works being done at NCA includes changing the name board of the place, air conditioning the place, changing the curtains and also changing the stage curtains in the way it was before, that it could be operated with an electrical system.
Instructor of NCA Ibrahim Ahmed said that there still are signs of the fire accident in the building and by the time renovation is complete, all such works would be completed.
“As the equipment to be kept here after renovation needs the place to be air conditioned, we would start to install Air condition in the place as soon as other works are completed. This would be given highest priority” Ibrahim said.
He said that they announced for estimate to air condition the place and now the work had been assigned to a party. But he said that there are some problems of the budget faced.
“Priority is given next to change the sign board of the building. After renovation, there would be another sign board which looks like the oldest sign board used here. One side of the sign board would be written with “Athireege thaan” while the other side will be written with English. The English written side will be towards Henveiru while the side written in Dhivehi will be towards Maafannu. The color code used will be orange and green. The board will show the previous letters and colors” Ibrahim said.
Ibrahim said that the purpose of making the sign board look like the previous one is that Olympus is a place related to the memories of a lot of people and the name board of the place is also remarked by a lot of people. He said that Olympus is a well built old building which is being protected.
