Managing Director Of Maldives Tourism Development Corporation, MTDC, Mohamed Solih has said that Herethere Resort being developed at Addu Atoll would open on before December 15 of this year.
MD Solih said as Herethere is being opened for the first time, to make a good impression on the first arrivals is very important and would contribute to make the industry a success.
“So we have to look in this angle and make sure the first arrivals are very satisfied in every way, we are making the necessary preparations to greet the first arrivals” said Solih.
According to Solih, that operation of direct flights to Seenu Gan would commence as soon as he informs the agents that preparations are complete.
Herethere was first scheduled to be opened on the 7 of this month. However the opening was delayed due incomplete landscaping of the resort. Thomas Cook tour agent for Herethere after an inspection of the resort has declared that resort’s landscaping for not up to the required standard and has cancelled the first arrivals scheduled for 7 of this month.
Speaking to Velidhoo News, Chairmen of MTDC Champa Hussain Afeef has said that more than a thousand employees are working in Herethere. He said that although 35% of the staff is foreigners, the resort has a policy of employing Maldivian wherever possible.
Herethere Resort is the first resort developed under MTDC and has a bed capacity of 600.
