Report: Soodh
President’s Member to People’s Malis, Diyana Saeed has said that she will not say no to the position of Deputy Home Minister, if offered. Diyana made the comment to Velidhoo News regarding the talks floating around town that Dhiyana will be appointed to the now vacant Deputy Home Minister’s position soon.
However she declined to confirm that she was offered such a post along with the recent appointment of Azima Shukoor, as Attorney General.
“I do not wish to answer that question, the best person to ask that question is Abdulla Kamaluhdheen, I have no comment for the time being” said Dhiyana who is currently the Executive Director at the Attorney General. Asked if she would accept such a position if given, she replied “she will consider it”.
When asked whether there is any comment to talks going around town that she has not reported to work for more than 2 years, she replied that it has been a while since she went to office. “It is a bit difficult to say exactly how many days I haven’t been to office” said Dhiyana.
“I also took leave during Dr. Hassan’s time, it is not that I am not reporting to work with the appointment of Azima” she clarified.
It was speculated by many that Dhiyana Saeed would the next Attorney General AG. The current AG is the former Deputy Home Minister Azima Shukoor. Dhiyana has reportedly said that she will not work under the new AG Azima saying that it would be morally unacceptable to work under Azima as she was signatory to a petition prepared by the parliamentary group of DRP, against Dhiyana.
