Tourists arrivals increased by 13.5% by September - MTPB

Dr. Abdulla Mausoom, Executive Director of Maldives Tourism Promotion Board,MTPB, has said that tourist arrivals this year have already reached the anticipated target for the year.

Speaking to Velidhoo News Dr. Mausoom said that the Tourism Promotion Board anticipated an increase of 8.5% when compared to total arrivals of last year.

“When compared to arrivals of last year we have an increase of 13.5% up to September, so we have achieved our anticipated target very successfully” said Dr. Mausoom.

According to MTPB, 6, 019, 23 tourists visited Maldives in year 2006. 4, 951, 76 tourists have visited Maldives this year between the period from January to September.

Maldives is favorite tourist destination among tourists of Italy, Germany, UK Japan and China.
