Report: Ayya

Adhaalath Party has said that some clauses of Article 15 of the first chapter of the draft constitution are contradictory to Islamic principles.

Speaking to Velidhoo News Sheikh Hussain Raheed President of Adhaalath Party said that clause B of the Article 15 of the First Chapter contradicts Islamic principles. He said that Clause B as passed by the Majlis imposes responsibilities on women where Islam has declined to do so.

“The Article on the Right of Education, contradicts Islam, it says that it is the responsibility of the state and the parents to afford primary and secondary education to children, whereas Islam says that women are not required to spend on anything in any capacity either on themselves or on any other person, the clause mandates that women also have to spend on their children’s education” said Sheikh Hussain Rasheed.

Clause B of the Article 15 of the Bill on Rights and Freedom states that “everyone has the right to education without discrimination of any kind. Primary education and secondary shall be freely provided by the state. It is the responsibility of the state and the parent to educate the children and that higher education to be generally available to all and shall be accessible to all citizens”.

Briefing the media on the draft constitution on the 4 of this month, Professor Dr. Mohamed Hashimi Kamaali assigned to provide technical assistance to the Drafting Committee of the People’s Special Majlis has said that Draft Constitution does not contradict the principles of Islam.

Professor Kamaali said that a good constitution is based on establishing a fair and just judicial system, on protecting the rights of the people. He said that all these aspects are reflected in the Draft.

Professor Kamaali an expert on Islamic sharia said that he was very satisfied with the draft constitution.
