Report: Soodh
American Ambassador designated to Maldives and Sri Lanka Robert Blake has said that he is not a threat the Islamic scholars party Adhaalath. He made that statement while speaking to members of the press at the American corner at the National Library yesterday afternoon.
Ambassador Blake said that he has tried to contact with Adhaalath on every visit of his, but so far he has been unsuccessful in meeting any official of the party.
“I don’t understand why they don’t want to meet me; I would like meet them and obtain their views on the reform process that is going on “said Blake.
Blake noted the absence of Adhaalath from round table discussions between all political parties held at Nasandhura palace.
Ashadulla Shafiee, Attorney of Adhaalath Party said that the party could not attend the round table talks at Nasandhuraa due to technical reasons.
“The invitation was sent to our Chief Spokesperson Shaheem, however he is in Malaysia, so we arranged the Secretary concerning Politicial Affairs of the party, Ahmed Asim to represent Adhaalath at the talks, however when he arrived at Nasandhura the discussions had already started, but Asim was ashamed to come in as he was late” said Shaafiee.
“We are now going to send a letter to the Ambassador explaining how it happened” said Shafiee. Velidhoo News was unable to contact Asim for a comment.
