MDP target material and economic gains

Speaking on the “One to One program” of DhiFM, MDP Chairperson Mohamed Nasheed, Anni, has said that one important aims of the party is to afford the people with materialistic and economic gains as soon as possible.

Anni said one of the main achievements of MDP is the freedom gained in the compiling of the revised constitution being exercised by Members of the Majilis. He said the next target of the party is obtaining materialistic and economic benefits for the people. Anni further said this can be achieved only by wining the forthcoming presidential elections and that he is fully confident of doing so.

Chairperson Anni noted that some fundamental rights have already been gained even under the present constitution. In this regard he noted the recently gained privileges such as the right of freedom of speech, freedom of association and the right to an attorney as achievements of the party.

Speaking on DhiFM, Anni said the country’s economy is in a very delicate situation. In this regard he noted the fact many still rely on charity to fulfill the most essential needs.
Although Maldives will soon graduate from the list of least developed countries, many are still below the acceptable poverty line.
