Fisheries Ministry has said that the delay in the commencement of the loan scheme of Mrf.15 Million is due to the delay in completion of some administrative work on part of Finance Ministry.
Fisheries Ministry reports that all necessary work for the commencement of the loan scheme of Mrf.15 Million has been completed and handed over to Finance Ministry.
On completion of some administrative work by Finance Ministry loan scheme would commence reports Fisheries Ministry.
Out of the Mrf.15 Million, 10 Million Rufiya is allocated for the completion of fishing vessels that are faced with financial difficulties, to obtain modern facilities to improve the fish catch.
The rest Mrf.5 Million is allocated to be dispersed as light loans aimed at small fisheries business owners involved in fisher activities.
Fisheries Ministry informs that submission of application forms for loans under the second phase of the Fisheries Development Project started on the 21 of last month and that many have already applied for it.
Fisheries Ministry also informs that a copy of the permit to engage in fisher activity must be submitted with each loan application and that this has also been informed all island offices as well as Atoll Offices.
As Fisheries have stated that delay in the commencement of loan scheme is due to a delay in the completion of administrative by Finance Ministry, Velidhoo News tried to obtain Finance Ministries comments. Finance Ministry however did not offer any comment when contacted.
