British embassy in \"close contact\" with Maldivian authorities following Sultan Park bomb explosion
MALE, September 29, 2007 (Velidhoo Community News Service) -- The British embassy in Colombo, Sri Lanka, which is also designated for Maldives, today said that the British government is \"in close contact with the Maldivian authorities and monitoring the situation carefully\" following the bomb explosion in Sultan Park in Male which injured some foreign tourists.
\"You should be aware of the global risk of indiscriminate terrorist attacks which could be in public areas, including those frequented by expatriates and foreign travellers. There was a small bomb on the capital island of Male on 29 September which injured a number of people including some British nationals and other foreigners,\" the embassy said on its website.
Two British tourists were the most seriously injured in the attack, and are being treated at the private ADK Hospital in Male for burns.
