Munawwar says capable of leading the country, if elected

Maldivian Democratic Party President Dr Mohamed Munawwar has said that he has the capability to lead the country if elected as president of Maldives. He also said that he has the experience and ability to lead the country, provided that the people elect him as the president.

In an interview given to DhiFM, Dr Munawwar said that his aim is to serve the nation and for the people. He said that he is not going to become the president for the sake of becoming the president.

He also denied any rumors that there are confrontations within party senior members and his leadership. He said that since his election as president of MDP, he was also busy with other members and that has somewhat slowed down some of the party activities. He said there are no problems within the party.

In response to IDP President Umar Naseer’s claim that MDP leadership are substance abusers, Dr. Munawwar strongly rejected any such claims and said it was simply a tactics using to hinder the overwhelming support that MDP is gaining.

He said that it was something they suspect and therefore sees no reason to bother such claims.
