Commissioner of Elections K.D. Ahmed Manik has met South African Independent Electoral Commission’s senior Commissioners during his official visit to South Africa.
During the meeting, officials discussed on the elections procedures and the political parties role in elections as well as implementation of modern electoral systems to be set in elections.
Information was also obtained from the officials about the ways in which the South African election commission organization is set-up and the way it functions.
The purpose of the visit was part of strengthening institutional capacity to organize elections in the Maldives in a more efficient and effective manner.
Office of the Elections Commissioner reported that Deputy Commissioner Shaukath Ibrahim, Assistant Director General Mohamed Thalaal and members from the technical team of the Commissioner’s Office accompanied the Commissioner.
