The Eleven Member Committee formed by People’s Special Majlis to oversee and coordinate the public referendum on the system of governance held on the 18 of last August will submit their report to the President of the Special Majlis Qasim Ibrahim next Sunday. This was revealed by Lubna Mohamed Zahir, Member of the 11 Member Committee and Member of the Special Majlis for Shaviani Atoll.
In an interview granted to Velidhoo Community, Lubna said that the Report has been compiled within the 10day period granted by President of the Special Majlis and that the Report was compiled with the consensus of majority of the members.
However Committee Member and Member of the Special Majlis for Thaa Atoll Riyaz Rasheed stated that the 11Member Committee did not discharge their responsibilities and that Committee cannot compile the Report. He further said most of work mentioned in the Report was not carried out by the Committee and that He has not signed the Report.
President of Special Majlis Qasim Ibrahim stated on the 18th of this month that, Chair of the 11Member Committee and Member of the Special Majlis for Vaavu Atoll, Moosa Nizar, signed the Report by Commissioner of Election without the consensus of the Committee and thus violated the Rules and Regulations governing the Committee. President Qasim granted additional 10 days for the 11 Member Committee to submit the required Report as the Committee failed to produce the Report within the specified time period. The Report is a pre requisite to make a final ruling on the validity of the result of the Public Referendum held on the 18th of last August.
