Report: Soodh

More than 1000 people have submitted Fitr alms by yesterday, says the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs.

Accepting Fitr alms for the year 1428 h started from Sunday this week, according to the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs.

The council said that they would continue to accept alms to the 28th of this Ramadan, at the council, ward offices and island offices in the atolls.

The council also said that alms should be submitted on government working days from 9.30 to 12.30. The amounts for Fitr alms are 2.4 kilos of rice or equivalent in currency.

The council said that in local currency this amounts to Rufiyaa 10.51 per person for ordinary rice. For white rice, the amount is Rufiyaa 19.20 per person, and for baasmathee rice, it is Rufiyaa 36 per person.

In the atolls the values should be calculated for the selling price of rice in that particular island. The council also requested eligible alms givers to complete the process within the specified time period.
