185 international news agencies cover Maldives\\\' terrorist attack
MALE, September 29, 2007 (VELIDHOO COMMUNITY NEWS SERVICE) -- Some 185 international news agencies have covered what is now seen as the first-ever terror attack in Maldives.
BBC, Al-Jazeera, CNN, Reuters, and the Associated Press were among those which covered the news, quoting Maldives Chief Government Spokesman Mohamed Hussain Shareef as saying that this was the first ever terrorist attack in Maldives.
However, the identities of the foreign tourists injured were not identified by the news agencies.
All the 12 injured in the bomb explosion were foreign tourists; they include eight Chinese, two Japanese, and two Britons.
Many Maldivians fear that the attack may have negative consequences for the tourism industry which contributes 32 percent of the country\\\'s $700 million dollar economy.
