MDP declines Invitation

Maldivian Democratic Party, MDP, has declined the invitation of all party coordinator. MDP announced their decision at a news conference held yesterday.

Speaking at the news conference the President of MDP, Dr.Munnawar , stated the reason for the decline being due to all party coordinator, Mohamed Zahir,being a member of a certain party and that Dr. Munnawar does not see any involvement of the coordinator in amending the constitution. He further stated the all party coordinator Mohamed Zahir is a member of Dhivehi Rayithunge Party.

Co-ordinator for all-party consultations sent invitations to all parties to submit names of representatives for all-party talks in a bid to expedite the reform process on September 23. Parties have to submit the names of the representatives on or before September 27.
