Secretariat of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has revealed the program of action of the Alliance of the Opposition Parties for the next 3 weeks.Most of the activities of the program revealed by MDP Secretariat are aimed at gaining support for the principle of transitional government. According to the Secretariat the Alliance is scheduled to meet the 6 member delegation of the European Union on the 19 of this month. The delegation of EU is visiting Maldives to find out how best to hold free and fair elections. Further the secretariat revealed that Robert Evans, Chairman of the Transport and Tourism Committee of EU will deliver an address on transitional arrangement at Dharubaaruge on Wednesday night. MDP secretariat informed that the meeting is being organized by Open Society.
MDP also informed that a delegation dubbed “Uthuru Armaaz” is scheduled to depart on the 29 of this month targeting northern atolls of Maldives to increase public awareness on the principle of a transitional arrangement. MDP also informed that necessary planning and preparations are already underway in order to make the trip a success.
According to MDP discussions were already held with 3 organizations on the transitional arrangements. In this regard, MDP says discussions were held with Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI) and Maldives Chamber of Commerce on the 9 of this month and with Maldives Construction Industry (MACI) on the 16 of December.
