“Eid ul Adha is an occasion of fraternity. It is an occasion to help one another. It is also an occasion to renew family ties and to strengthen friendships and acquaintances” said President Gayoom.

President said Eid Ul Adha teaches us the virtue of selflessness and reminds us the importance of elevating the interests of our brothers above ours. He further said highest priority must be given to issues of national interest.

All Muslims must have the opportunity to join in the festivities of Eid Ul Adha and all other Muslim celebrations said President. He said we must therefore ensure that those who are less fortunate than us are invited to join in our festivities.

President concluded the message by praying to Allah to bless the beloved people of the Maldives and the entire Muslim fraternity. “May our lives be filled with happiness, prosperity and progress” said President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.
