Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Mrs. Azima Shakoor remains tight-lipped over the rumors that she would be offered the portfolio of Attorney General.Questioned whether the rumors are true and if she has been offered the post, Azima said that it’s better to wait and hear the news. She said that the government would announce the appointment and people must wait with patience.
Asked if she would accept AG post, she said that she is presently serving in the government and would continue to serve in the government.
Earlier, Minister of Information and Arts Uz Mohamed Nasheed said that the government has already made a decision to whom AG’s portfolio would be offered and the appointment would be announced once the President returns to Male’ after concluding the official visit to Jordan.
Uz Nasheed also denied rumors that part of AG Office work would be given to Information Ministry.
Azima Shakoor is also a member at People’s Majlis appointed by President.
