Foreign companies interested to sell shares in Maldives

Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation Dr. Mahmood Shaugee has said that foreign companies investing in the Maldives are interested in selling shares in the Maldives. He said that some of the Sri Lankan companies working on the tourism sector have expressed their interest to list their businesses in the stock exchange and to sell shares in the country.

He said that providing such opportunities for the Maldivians would allow them to share the benefits directly. He said that it was a possibility that foreign investors selling shares of their investment in the stock exchange.

Dr. Shaugee also said that such an opportunity should be given to the investors; however, it would become a reality only after finalizing many steps and procedures.

Tourism Minister was traveling to Sri Lanka to attend trade related official negotiations.
