Report: Ayya
The report published annually by United Nations Development Program (UNDP) on human development was issued yesterday morning at a ceremony held at UN Building .The report was inaugurated by Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid.
Speaking at the ceremony held to inaugurate the report Abdulla Shahid said that the report would contribute immensely to the ongoing discussions on climate change. He also said that Maldives is one the countries be greatly affected by devastating effects of climate change.
Minister Shahid also said that one of the biggest challenges of the 21 century is the challenges faced due to climatic changes and that if we do not take appropriate measures then it would be an injustice for the next generation.
According to UNDP this year’s report is dedicated to the effects of climate change on human development.
The ceremony in addition to members of the UNDP office was also attended by the Resident Representative to United Nations Office at Geneva Abdul Gafoor Mohamed and the Permanent Representative to UN Ahmed Haleem.
The Human Development Report was first launched in 1990.
