Leaders of foreign countries, Intl. organizations strongly condemn the attempt

A number of leaders of foreign countries and international organisations have strongly condemned Tuesday’s failed attempt on the President’s life.

Among those who condemned the attack was the Sri Lankan President. Mr. Mahinda Rajapakse spoke on the telephone with the Maldivian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka, Mr. Ali Hussain Didi and strongly condemned this act of terrorism. He expressed relief that the President escaped the attack unharmed. He also sent his good wishes to the President and assured the continued support of the Sri Lankan Government.

The Chief Advisor of Bangladesh, Dr. Fakhrudheen Ahmed also sent a message to the President on learning of the attempted attack. He expressed deep concern on learning of the incident and strongly condemned the act of terrorism. He also thanked the Almighty for keeping the President safe.

The Government of different countries have also called on learning of the incident to seek assurance of the President’s safety and to gather information regarding the attack. The Honorary Councils in foreign countries have also sent messages to the President condemning the attempted assault.
