President says we should act in accordance with laws and regulations

President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom yesterday night said that we should act in accordance with the laws and regulations of the country, and maintain peace and harmony within our society.

Speaking with the people of South Thiladhunmathi Atoll Hanimadhoo, President Gayoom said that the Government attaches a high priority to maintaining peace and harmony among our people, and improving our social and economic status by providing the services necessary for the public. He emphasized that maintaining peace within our society should be given a special precedence now because of the ongoing Democratic Reform Agenda, and that it should not be used as an excuse to cause disruption among our people.

President Gayoom noted that Hanimadhoo is a rapidly developing island and said that this was due to the hard work and dedication of its people. He further said that the most significant aspect of progress of the island is the regional airport stationed in Hanimadhoo.

Speaking at a ceremony held in the Hanimadhoo School, the Island Chief, Mohamed Gasim highlighted the high priority that the President gives to the island.
