According to Fuvahmulak office, more than 137 homes have affected by the severe whether experiencing over the island. The office revealed that the figure is expected to change as more and more information are received.
“According to information received so far, 137 homes have been affected, but the figure may change, work is underway to drain the island “revealed Fuvahmulak office.
According to Deputy Atoll Chief Ahmed Mohamed, Maldives Police, Maldives Defense Force, Regional Fire Services as well as a large number of residents are engaged in the draining work.
“Although rain has stopped now it is still very cloudy and it looks like it might still rain” said Ahmed Mohamed.
Due to the low pressure trough over the country severe weather is being experienced across the country. Last Thursday, Thinadhoo of Gdh. Atoll was severely flooded causing damage to many homes and household equipment. Vaadhoo, Thinadhoo, Madaveli , Hoadehdhoo , Rathafandhoo and Faresmaathoda of that were affected by the heavy rain.
