13 Maldivians resign jobs at Kanuhura

A very reliable source has informed Miadhu Daily that 13 Maldivian staff a One & Only Kanuhura has resigned from their job.

The Source says that problem arose when a Maldivian staff that belongs to Addu was sacked from job for assaulting the Security Manager of the resort, who is a foreigner.

13 other Maldivian staff from the resort that belongs to Addu said that they would resign from job if the other staff was sacked. The source said that these 13 employees didn’t attend job for 3 to 4 days and it’s been about 2 days since they left the resort. These 14 people departed the resort on a chartered air taxi flight, source said.

A staff of Kanuhura who wishes to remain anonymous said that more foreigners than locals were employed in the resort even before these 14 people left the resort. He said that only about 40% of the resort’s staff was Maldivians even earlier also and Maldivians were resigning from their jobs due to some problems with the service charge and disputes with the management.

The regulation from the Tourism Ministry says that it is obligatory to employ at least 50% Maldivian staff in all tourist resorts.
