Member of Parliament for Gaafu Alif Atoll Abdula Jabir has strongly condemned the attack on the President Gayoom by a young man of Huvarafushi using a sharp knife. He said such attacks are totally unacceptable and regrettable.
Speaking to Miadhu via telephone from Singapore, MP Jabir Vice President of the People’s Association said that attack was a cowardly act and should not be committed against anybody especially on a president.
“It is regrettable, nobody should attack the President, whoever he may be, and I strongly condemn the attack” said Jabir who resigned from President Gayoom’s party DRP.
Jabir further said that it is important that our society be clear of such acts and that no Maldivian should ever be a victim of such an attack. He also said that he cannot accept such violent acts.
