Today is Teachers Day. Teachers Day in celebrated every year on 5 October and recognizes the importance of teachers and attributes progress to the quality of teachers in the educational system.
On the occasion, President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has said that “teachers are the means of providing education to our younger generation. They are the experts who shape the future of our children according to the needs of our nation. They are the foundation on which the progress of our nation is being build on “.
President Gayoom extended his sincere well wishes to all teachers and all those involved in the education system. He said that he valued the important work carried out by teachers and as one who still gets the opportunity to teach, he can feel and share expectations and aspirations of the teachers.
President Gayoom also thanked all those institutions in the country involved with the education and upgrading of all the teachers in the country.
He noted that this year’s theme for the day, Improvement in Teachers and their teaching environment leads to better learning and urged all those involved in the education system to facilitate better teaching environments for the teachers.
He called on the students to be obedient and respectful to their teachers and urged them to make best use of the lessons received and to be thankful to their honored teachers.
President Gayoom wished a happy and prosperous future for the teachers and prayed to Allmighty Allah that their work be blessed.
