Islands for airport development revealed

Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation has revealed names of 5 additional islands that are to be developed as airports.

The names were revealed by Deputy Director at Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation Yazeedh Mohamed at a seminar organized by the Foreign Investments Services Bureau to brief the visiting Singaporean business delegation that accompanied President Nathan.

The seminar was held at Bandos Island Resort.

Briefing the participants of the seminar Yazeedh said that with grant of an island for the development of a 1200 meter runway, the opportunity will be granted to develop a resort.

The 5 islands designated for the development of airports are Noonu Maafaru, Raa Ifuraa, Baa Dharavandhoo, Meemu Bodumahuraa and Fuvahmulaku.

The 5 islands that are designated, to be given away with each airport development project, for the developments of resorts are Noonu HuvadhumaaVahtaru, Raa Gaaugoodhoo, Baa Muhdhoo , Vaavu Rakeedhoo and Gaafu Alifu Dhigurah.
