At the invitation of President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, President of Singapore, S.R. Nathan, arrived in the Maldives last night. President Gayoom greeted the Singaporean President on his arrival at Male’ International Airport.
President Nathan and President Gayoom then proceeded to the Saluting Dias, where the national anthems of the two countries were played.
During the welcoming ceremony held at the Airport, President Nathan was introduced to the Speaker of the People’s Majlis, Chief Justice, Ministers, State Ministers, State Dignitaries, Senior Government Officials and Heads of Foreign Diplomatic Missions in the Maldives. The members of the Singaporean delegation were then introduced to President Gayoom.
A brief meeting was held between President Gayoom and President Nathan at the V.V.I.P Lounge at the Male’ International Airport.
