Heavy weather storms destroy homes in Addu

Seven homes in Addu Atoll have received heavy damages in the severe weather storms that are being experienced across the country reports Atoll Office of Addu.

According to Atoll Chief Mohamed Naeem, seven houses were seriously damaged during a severe weather storm that occurred at around 9.30 in the morning. The roof of a house in Hithadhoo named Newshan was blown away resulting in damages to furniture and other house hold items. The roof top landed on to the roof of another house causing severe damage to roof of that house.

4 other houses also received various damages. The Newshan house is currently being repaired with the assistance of the resident police officers, defense force officers and residents of Hithadhoo report the island office.

In addition to damages to houses a number coconut trees were uprooted reports Hassan Latheef Island Chief of Hithadhoo. He further noted that no body so far has been hurt due to the incident.
