President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom graced this year’s last show of “Thi Han’dhaanugai” programme organised by the Television Maldives. The show was simulcast last night at 9.30.
On his arrival at the Television Maldives, President was welcomed by the Minister of Information and Arts, Mr. Mohamed Nasheed, the Chief Executive Officer of TVM, Mr. Ali khalid, senior officials of TVM and the vocalists who performed in this year’s “Thi Han’dhaanugai” programme.
“Thi Han’dhaanugai” programme was organised to revive the spirit of early Maldivian songs. The vocalists who performed at last night’s show were Hassan Ilham, Haifa Ahmad Imad, Mariyam Ashfa, Ahmed Ali, Fathimath Lubaina Rasheed, Mariyam Unoosha and Mumtaz Moosa.
The audio album of last night’s show was launched by the Chief Guest of the show, Minister of Education, Ms Zahiya Zareer.
President purchased the audio albums of the first four shows of the programme and also the fifth programme, during the show.
In his welcome remarks, the presenter of the programme, Mr. Ibrahim Rasheed thanked the President for gracing the show with his presence.
After the show the President participated in a photo session with the 31 vocalists of the show and joined in a function with members of staff of TVM, after the show.
