Reco Ibrahim Manik MSDP’s presidential contender

Leader of Maldivan Social Democratic Party,MSDP, Rico Ibrahim Manik has said that he will join the presidential race provided he chosen by the party’s congress.

Speaking to Velidhoo News MSDP’s Leader said that he is very keen to serve the people and the party’s manifesto reflects his keenness. Rico Ibrahim Manik claims that the party’s manifesto is reflective of his ideas.

“I am prepared to stand up on behalf of the people, I am very keen to serve the country and the people, there are many capable people in our party” Rico Ibrahim Manik told Velidhoo News.

“We are waiting for the constitutional reform process to be completed, it is a bit early for us bring out our candidate” said MSDP’s Leader.

He further said his party would work to abolish all aspects dictatorship from the country and will work to establish a full democracy.

I do not want any aspect of dictatorship, I will compete in the presidential elections, I am very keen to serve the people, it is very clear from our manifesto that we want to win” said Rico Ibrahim Manik who has been a political prisoner of President Gayoom several years ago.

There are a number of presidential contenders. They include Leader of Dhivehi Rahyithunge Party, DRP, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, President of the Islamic Democratic Party, IDP, Umar Naseer and former Attorney General Dr. Hassan Saeed.

Although a presidential candidate has not been elected by Maldivian Democratic Party,MDP, its President Dr. Munnawar and Vice President Ibrahim Hussain Zaki has indicated they would compete if they win the party primary. Further Leader of the Maldives Social Liberal Party,MSLP has said that too would compete if the party chooses him. Rico Ibrahim Manik Leader of MSDP also has said he will join the presidential race if his party gives him the go ahead.
