FM’s of neighboring countries condemn bomb blast

Foreign Ministers of India, Sri Lanka and Singapore have condemned the detonation of an improvised explosive device at the Sultan Park on 29 September 2007. They expressed their condemnation at meetings held with Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid in New York.

Foreign Ministers stated that their countries would separate communiqués condemning the detonation and their willingness to help Maldives in anyway possible with regard to the explosion. They also expressed their support and cooperation to people and Government of Maldives.

Speaking with the Ministers, Mr. Shahid thanked on behalf of the People and Government of Maldives for the sincere feelings expressed and said the bomb blast was an act that shocked the entire nation. He also said encouragement and support received from friendly nations were valuable.
