Maldives Food and Drug Authority, MFDA has reported that 38 food outlets have been closed under the special program carried out to inspect the cleanliness of catering services.
According to Maldives Food and Drug Authority, during the first week of September some places were closed and remains so. Scoop, one of the major ice-creams serving hotel still remains closed.
Maldives Food and Drug Authority said that the places which were shut down have to inform the authority after the meeting the short-comings in the inspections. The Authority is also doing follow-up inspections of the places that the authority has closed and reopened.
MFDA has also said that they have asked the managements of the places to supervise that places regularly to keep the cleanliness up to the standard.
The program has been applauded by many since MFDA has shut down very famous restaurants in the process and have enforced the rules.
