Baa Atoll Kudarikilu School has reported that the recent fever outbreak in the island has forced the school to close. Nearly fifteen percent of the students are infected with the fever.
Earlier Baa Atoll Hospital reported that a fever epidemic has forced at least 40 people to receive treatment. Reports say that preventative and curative actions are being undertaken to address the problem. Last statistics show that 65 people have received the treatment for the fever.
Baa Atoll Hospital reported that the family health section and the island office staff are fogging to control mosquitoes as the officials are suspecting of dengue fever. The island has a population of over 500 people.
Department of Public Health earlier has warned the public to take preventive and a precautionary measure as raining continues.
Baa Atoll Hospital further reported that a medical team including a nurse and a health officer has been dispatched to Kudarikilu to provide treatment for patients. The school was closed after consultation with the Ministry of Education.
